Safe Haven is such a blessing to know that when your precious loved one needs help they can find it in a clean, loving, positive Godly environment where they can learn how to become the best version of themselves.

What Is Safe Haven?

The Coalition began in March 2019 as a group of local citizens desiring to bring about change regarding social issues in Tishomingo County. The group developed a list of target needed to address, and the number one need was safe housing.

Safe Haven became the transition shelter created for temporarily homeless adults in Tishomingo, Alcorn, and Prentiss Counties. Staffed by Coalition Director, Kathy Best, and Prevention Coordinator/Social Worker, Lesa Judd, residents must meet a list of requirements to be accepted and to remain at Safe Haven.

Residents are required to:

  • Obtain a job and fulfill job duties

  • Attend church and self-help meetings

  • Live in community with others

  • Perform assigned chores

  • Abide by curfew

  • Remain alcohol & drug free.

Safe Haven does not accept individuals who:

  • Are a danger to themselves or others

  • Receive disability

  • Are physically or mentally handicapped

  • Are involved in a domestic violence situation

  • Have been charged or convicted of sexual and/or violent crimes

  • Are actively detoxing from IV drugs, alcohol, and/or benzodiazepines

  • Are on drug court

Safe Haven is for adult individuals only. We do not accept children, families, or pets. Residents can have a criminal record or be on parole or probation. Once employed, residents are required to pay a bed fee. This is discussed at the time of intake.
